Nostalgia

I seldom get homesick — there’s a lot I like about living in the UK — but when I do, it comes on strong. This page is about things that make me nostalgic and wistful for being back in Maryland.

Thanksgiving. The best family holiday, celebrated by the whole US and not just one religion. Plus, acknowledging gratitude is always a good thing, and when everybody’s doing it it somehow feels more special.

Fourth of July. Another day for the whole country. I don’t like the weather in that time of year, or the pops music that abounds, but I love the joy and the fireworks and the reading of the Declaration of Independence. Call me cheesy.

Snow. I adore snow, and Maryland gets a lot more of it than Newcastle does. I’ve blogged about this.
